The conceptual idea of Phi Rho Eta being an official fraternity was conceived on August 8, 1994. Phi Rho Eta was founded on August 22, 1994 on the campus of Southern Illinois University in the basement of Morris Library by Marvin Vinson Randolph and LaMont Theolonus B. Taylor. On December 7, 1994 Southern Illinois University at Carbondale officially recognized Phi Rho Eta Fraternity at 8:01 pm in the Renaissance Room at the Student Center.

On March 1, 1995 the Pan-Hellenic Council officially recognized the Alpha Chapter of Phi Rho Eta Fraternity as a greek social society at 7pm. On January 9,2005 the Alpha Chapter of Phi Rho Eta Fraternity Inc. was reborn under the supervision of Brandon De Sean Kaufman and Lewis Leroy Stafford at 7:15 am in Chicago, Il.

On October 1,2005 at 7:05 A.M. P.S. Sagacious joined the Smooth Men of Phi Rho Eta at Morris Library. They were the first line to officially cross at SIUC in almost 7 years.

Since 2005, many members have joined the C.H.A.R.I.S.M.A.T.I.C. folds of Phi Rho Eta Fraternity's Awesome Alpha Chapter.  Many more will come...
